Online Therapy for Adults in Florida and Illinois
You’ve Done the Talking. Now You’re Ready for Something to Change.
Therapy for anxiety, autism, ADHD, trauma, and the patterns that keep you feeling stuck.
Maybe you understand why you feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck, but understanding it hasn’t been enough to change it.
Maybe you’ve tried therapy before. You’ve talked through the past, learned the terminology, and gained insight. Yet somehow, you still find yourself facing the same fears, relationship patterns, self-doubt, or internal conflict.
My approach to therapy is active, holistic, and collaborative. I bring the clinical tools, education, perspective, and support to help you understand yourself more deeply and create meaningful change beyond our sessions.
You bring the willingness to use them.

Therapy Isn’t About Fixing You
Therapy Can Help You Find Your Way Back to Yourself.
Years of stress, anxiety, difficult relationships, trauma, expectations, masking, negative beliefs, or simply trying to function in a world that doesn’t always make sense to you can leave you disconnected from who you are underneath it all.
Many people come to therapy feeling discouraged, stuck in familiar patterns, or wondering, “Why am I like this?”. I often think of therapy through the image of Michelangelo revealing a sculpture from a block of marble. The beauty of that metaphor is that the sculpture wasn’t something that needed to be added, it was already there, waiting to be uncovered. Over time, therapy can help you reconnect with a more authentic sense of yourself: your strengths, your values, your needs, and the parts of you that may have been difficult to access for a long time.
My role isn’t to tell you who you should become. It’s to help you understand what is happening beneath the surface, recognize the patterns keeping you stuck, and develop practical ways to respond differently.
That might mean exploring your thoughts and emotions. It might mean looking at relationships, habits, sleep, movement, nutrition, stress, or the way you begin and move through your day.
Because your emotional well-being doesn’t exist separately from the rest of your life.
We look at the whole person, mind, body, experiences, environment, and the life you actually live between sessions.
Online Therapy for Anxiety, Autism, ADHD, Trauma & Life Challenges
Personalized Therapy for Neurodivergent Adults in Florida and Illinois.
You may have found the right place if you’re tired of feeling like you keep ending up in the same place.
You may be navigating anxiety, ADHD or autism, perfectionism, loneliness, difficult relationships, chronic stress, trauma, or the feeling that somehow you experience life differently from the people around you.
wake up at night with your mind running through every possible scenario;
replay one comment or interaction for the rest of the day;
avoid dating, social situations, opportunities, flying, public speaking, or other experiences because anxiety has made your world smaller;
feel trapped in a relationship, job, or pattern you know isn’t working;
struggle with perfectionism, self-confidence, or constantly anticipating the worst;
understand your patterns intellectually but still find yourself repeating them;
have received an autism or ADHD diagnosis later in life and be trying to understand what it means for you;
have tried therapy before and wonder why you still feel stuck.
You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what needs to change.
But you do need to arrive curious about yourself and willing to explore it.
An Active, Holistic Approach to Therapy
I’m Not a Therapist Who Simply Sits Back and Listens.
There is absolutely a place in therapy for being heard. But being heard is only part of our work.
I take an active role in the therapeutic process. I ask questions. I offer perspective. I teach. I share resources. I introduce practical tools and help you understand not only what you are experiencing, but what you can begin doing differently.
Depending on what you need, our work may incorporate evidence-based therapeutic approaches alongside mindfulness, lifestyle considerations, education, and practical experiments you can take into everyday life.
You may leave a session with something to journal about, a new practice to try, a resource to explore, a conversation to have, or simply a different way of responding when an old pattern appears.
And when something isn’t working, we get curious about why.
Therapy gives us the tools. Your everyday life is where you get to practice using them.
Meet Marina Livis, LCSW
10+ Years Helping Clients Create Meaningful Change.
My approach doesn’t come only from what I’ve studied.
As a therapist diagnosed with autism as an adult, an immigrant, and someone who has navigated anxiety myself, I understand what it can feel like to wonder why certain things seem harder for you than they appear to be for everyone else.
I have also experienced many of the therapeutic approaches I now use professionally.
That experience shaped the kind of therapist I chose to become: engaged, curious, practical, holistic, and deeply invested in helping my clients understand themselves.
I bring that same curiosity and care to my assessments, taking the time to explore each client's experiences thoroughly, including the ways trauma and PTSD may shape their present challenges. My approach is methodical and attentive to detail, because understanding the full picture matters when deciding how best to move forward.
I don’t see you as a diagnosis or a collection of symptoms.
I see you as a whole person.

What I Ask of My Clients
You don’t need to be the “perfect” therapy client. There is no such thing.
But meaningful therapy does require participation.
The clients who tend to get the most from our work are willing to show up consistently, speak honestly, even when something feels uncomfortable, and experiment with what we discuss between sessions.
I’ll bring my training, experience, tools, resources, curiosity, and commitment to your growth.
I ask you to bring your curiosity, honesty, consistency, and willingness to participate.
Therapy isn’t the therapist driving the bus while you sit in the passenger seat.
You’re in the driver’s seat. I’m here to help you understand the road, give you better tools to navigate it, and travel alongside you while you learn to use them.
Therapy Is an Investment in Yourself
Change Begins With a Commitment to Yourself.
Beginning therapy means making space for yourself, not only emotionally, but practically.
It requires time.
It requires energy.
And it requires a financial commitment.
Before we begin, I want you to feel comfortable making that investment and ready to give yourself the consistency necessary to explore meaningful change.
For many clients, that means beginning with weekly sessions and committing to the process for at least three months, rather than approaching therapy as an occasional appointment when something goes wrong.
We can discuss your goals, recommended frequency, fees, insurance coverage, and what working together would look like during your initial consultation (complimentary).
How Online Therapy Works
Be Ready to Do the Push-Ups.
Step 1: Start With a Conversation
Schedule an initial consultation (complimentary) so we can discuss what you’re experiencing, what you’re hoping to change, and whether my approach feels right for you. We’ll also discuss practical considerations such as scheduling, fees, insurance, and the commitment involved.
Ready to Begin Therapy?
Step 2: Understand the Whole Picture
Our first sessions aren’t about putting you into a box. We’ll look at your experiences, patterns, challenges, strengths, relationships, lifestyle, and goals so we can understand what may be contributing to the way you feel.
Online therapy for adults throughout Florida and Illinois.
Step 3: Put Therapy Into Practice
Think of therapy a little like working with a personal trainer: I can teach you the exercises, help you understand why they matter, support you, and adjust the plan along the way, but I can’t do the push-ups for you.
The real change comes from what you practice and carry into your life.
You Don’t Need Another Hour of Simply Talking About What Isn’t Working.
You may already know what’s wrong. You may already know where some of it came from.
The question now is: are you ready to do something with what you know?
If you’re looking for a therapist who will actively participate in the process, challenge you with compassion, teach you practical tools, and expect you to participate in your own growth, we may work well together.
Your first conversation is an opportunity to find out.
Before booking your initial consultation, I want you to feel ready to make this commitment to yourself and show up for the process.
